Okay, I decided a thing. From now instead of saying “red states,” I’m going to say “republican-oppressed states.” The hyphen may be dropped, but the word choice will remain, because it’s the truth. I hope others here will join me in this effort to change the narrative. #PleaseEcho

I live in the republican-oppressed state of Ohio. I totally agree with this.

My own nickname for such places, like the one I got away from, is "the Fourth World".

Same in Florida. DNC has abandoned us, state party in disarray, false messaging to Latinos never countered, voter suppression & gerrymandering. I get upset when people are like “ just move” or “Florida should just drop of the map”. I can’t pick up & leave. So we stay and fight as best we can.

There are a growing number of us that stay and fight for change even though it is so hard. We just can't give in and give up.

Come and canvas, to talk to so many people who are so disenfranchised about elections that never help when they don't have enough to eat, to feed their kids. It's hard to get people registered & to the moving, disappearing polls. Come help us, maybe you'd get a better idea of what's going on.

I'll go with "Regressed Republican States" because they sure are marching backwards to the segregated, women being subserviant with no rights and forced procreation of the 50's.

And we regressed women here just love that. All of us. Elections are perfectly representative of the whole population in every one of them.

So true! When MTG started talking about a red states seceding again, all I could think was how most of those states are majority Democratic voters who have been gerrymandered out of representation.

As one who lives in Oklahoma, I thank you. There's a lot of *blue* here but our state party is not functional, so the "red state" descriptor is especially demoralizing because it sounds inevitable. *We* are trying but it's a huge challenge. So THANK YOU for thinking of this!

Oklahoma’s Democratic Party sounds a lot like Kentucky’s. There is little to no organization outside of Louisville and Lexington, the two major cities here.

Yes. Agree. As Rev. Dr. Barber put it, “red states are voter-suppressed states”.
