A question for King James (of bible fame):

How the fuck did Jesus find guys named Peter, John, James, Matthew, Andrew, Philip, Thomas and Simon in the Middle East?

Thanks for the input but the question was largely rhetorical. Had I been inspired by contemporary evangelical renderings of Jesus I might have asked why he was blond, blue eyed and wearing a crucifix.

Simple. Those are Anglicizations of Greek names, some of which were Hellenized forms of Hebrew names:

Peter - Petros
John - Ioannes (Yohanan)
James - Iakobos (Ya'akov)
Matthew - Matthaios (Mattityahu)
Andrew - Andreas
Philip - Philippos
Thomas - Thomas (Ta'oma)
Simon - Simon (Shimon)
