Dear #spoutiblebakescookies
I'm searching for a soft, chewy oatmeal cookie recipe. Any recommendations?

I haven't baked anything from scratch in decades. I had a recipe box but it seems to have left home so I'm rebuilding!

Ok, here’s what I use.
1 c butter
1 c g sugar
1 c b sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 c flour
3 c oats
Mix in this order, add any extras you like, nuts, cc etc. divide into 64 equal parts. Bake for 14 minutes at 350. If you add 2 tsp of molasses

That will make the cookie softer/chewy, but you’ll also want to chill the dough for about 30 minutes so it’s easier to handle. Without it they’ll still be crunchy outside and soft inside, but the molasses will add some flavor and make them softer.
