At some point, Twitter will either have to get more serious about policing mis/disinformation, or they will have to pull out of European markets. EU fines for violations will be serious.

I think the latter is much more likely considering ol EM gives negative fucks about his European user base…or his user base in general, really.

Elon seems to think he can ignore/thumb his👃🏻 at EU bcz, well, bcz he's ELON.🙄

But, according to this article, it's past time for him to straighten up/fly right.

Who knows how true this is, but per article, he's 'cash poor'...I guess tht means, wealthy on paper? He uses Tesla stock for $ source

why would they pay a fine in some “europe” — i mean is that even a real thing?

Gov'ts have a lot more power than landlords. Not only can they impose fines and shut down businesses, they can put folks in jail (e.g. GDPR has a provision that could put mangers in jail). Twitter does not want to mess with the EU. This is going to cost a lot of money and time.
