Breaking: Donald Trump is now disqualified from running for president in Colorado.

And of course he is, because if the insurrection clause of the 14th Amendment didn't apply to Trump, it doesn't apply to anyone.

Unfortunately, I don't think that is over with. He will appeal this to the end.

Not so fast: there will be an appeal, and probably a Supreme Court decision.

Interesting thing is that if scotus sides with Trump on the Colorado decision. And they screw Jack Smith over with regards to his multiple cases. So I don't think scotus will overtly side with Trump on this one.

That depends on why they side with him (aside from the weird worship relationship they have). If the reason they use is the same as the dissenting judges in Colorado, it’s because he hasn’t been convicted of insurrection yet. If you ask me, thats the reason Jack Smith’s case should be speed up.

I’m rethinking my previous response. It doesn’t say the insurrectionist has to be convicted by jury. They have to violate their oath to protect our constitution. The case in Colorado proved he violated his oath WITH evidence. Case closed! SCOTUS should agree 100%. Its not a copout. Its law!

My father in law just notified the family that he is no longer a Republican.

No idea how he is going to vote. But I’ll take the small win.

Not really. In one state where it "failed", the court only killed it for the primary under the premise that since there's no guarantee he would win the primary, it wasn't the time yet to consider it, which I find reasonable. They can still bring the case again after the primary if he should win it.

Clarence will, of course, recuse since his wife was also actively involved in the insurrection.
