When I found re-runs of their show on cable in the '90s, I watched them all. Dickie and Tommy worked beautifully together, and were skillfully satirical. RIP, Tommy.

One of the comedy writers on their show was a very young Steve Martin. I was amazed to hear that - but it made sense, looking back.

Steve Martin was a writer for the Smothers Brothers, but it was also where he made his first major television appearance.

I probably saw it the first time - my dad loved the Smothers Brothers, we watched the show every week. Didn't remember him when he broke out in the '80s - but he looked a lot different with white hair! He mentioned writing for them in an interview, probably on Carson or Letterman.
