OH I once read an AITA or something about this wedding with two people who were into puppets and they wanted to make their guests BUY BESPOKE PUPPETS AT LIKE $500 EACH and then CONVERSE USING THE PUPPETS.

I mean WHAT???

It has never made sense to me to spend all that money on a day.

I understand that's a big deal to a lot of people and a dream, but not for me.

And I really can't imagine anyone likes me enough for me to make such outrageous demands for "my day."

Saturday will be our 36th wedding anniversary. Ours was small and we spent less than $500 on it. We were still exhausted when it was over. When we talk about it we both wish we were just married at city hall w/only parents and sibs. But we're both introverts so of course we didn't want a big crowd.

Congrats on THIRTY SIX YEARS!!! THAT'S SO AMAZING!!!

See that's the part I think really matters.

I can totally understand that tiredness, no question.

I could rant about the symbolism of marriage, but maybe another time. In that particular example if I were the best man, I'd probably cut my hair but have a *very* direct talk with the groom about how it isn't something I should've been asked to do in the first place.

It really amazes me that people feel comfortable making those kinds of demands.

At MOST, I'd pull out a ponytail elastic and ask if they wouldn't mind pulling their hair back if it "offends" the bride that much.
But only as a way to try to mollify Bridezilla.

Asking, worse demanding, anyone else cut their hair - for photos?
Oh, no.
No, no, no.

That's a red flag fluttering.
