I replaced one of the ink cartridges on my photo printer today and discovered it needed a firmware update to recognize the new cartridge. This required connecting the printer to my computer using a USB-A cable.

The longest antique cable we have is 6 feet, so I had to maneuver my giant ass printer out of the closet to get it within 6 feet of my computer. In order to get the printer into the right mode for the upgrade, 5 buttons had to be pressed simultaneously and held for a minute.

I guess I should consider myself lucky that it didn’t also require dancing naked under a full moon. The update worked and the new cartridge is now recognized by the printer. One cleaning cycle, two head adjustments, and a cleared paper jam later, I got a print that was clean. Now I’m exhausted.

Well done! Everytime I figure out how to fix a new tech problem I feel like I won a race. Literally. Especially when it involves physical gyrations to move eqpt, find a cable, look for a thumb drive, etc. Lol.
In response to Jacqueline.
