Alright. Let the MU/Spurs Thoughts Thread begin:

1. MU's Front Three Shines
When United is attacking, the front three of Rashford, Garnacho, & Hojlund usually looks dangerous, giving Spurs something to think about. The quality of the goals scored by Hojlund and Rashford showed this. But...

2. Spurs Deserves More
Spurs were missing a few key players, to the point where Postecoglou had to field a 2nd string midfield and attack. Yet, they were far more dangerous, slicing United's midfield apart with ease and constantly attacking. If one of Son or Maddison had played, Spurs would've won

3. Dalot's Delight

United's best defender hands down was Dalot. He defended perfectly, giving Udogie and Werner no room to attack down the left with his tackles and physicality. Unfortunately, the one time he was careless, Werner set up Betnacur for the 2nd equalizer

4. What Gives, Ten Hag?
It was very clear MU needed solidity in midfield as it was sliced apart. Casemiro just recently returned from injury, and would've been the solution. Instead, Ten Hag once again brought on McTominay for Eriksen. McTominay did well offensively, but he wasn't the answer

5. Destiny Awaits Garnacho
One of the battles was Spurs' Destiny Udogie taking on Garnacho. Udogie did well to make things tough for Garnacho, making 5 tackles and winning 7/11 ground duels. But, Garnacho had 5/9 successful dribbles and won 7/13 ground duels. Overall, both players can call it even

6. Porr-one For Pedro
Spurs' RB Pedro Porro made life difficult for the United defence, largely due to his corner kicks. It was how Spurs scored their first equalizer thanks to Richarlison's header. His deliveries always looked threatening, having made 20 crosses and had 45/56 accurate passes

7. Mainoo Left Alone
This picture shows why United were torn apart. The passing network shows Eriksen constantly going up further, leaving space centrally to attack. So what happens when Spurs get the ball back? Loads of space to play through the centre. Mainoo cannot do the dirty work alone

8. Through To Hojberg
In this same picture, Spurs have someone to play through and that's Pierre-Emile Hojberg. Hojberg played as the anchor man, starting Spurs' attacks with his passes just by being in the centre while there would be teammates nearby for him to pass to, a factor of Spurs domination

Overall (1/2):
Erik Ten Hag's sacrifice of structure for pure offence is like playing with fire when facing a team like Spurs. There's a clear coaching issue going on with their build-up structure, as MU occasionally lose the ball that would give Spurs momentum to attack

Overall (2/2):
So it's embarrassing for Ten Hag when compared to how quickly Postecoglou implemented his ideas into the team, playing a high defence line with high offensive pressure that complements his players given he's been here for 6 months.

In short, Spurs have a clear identity. MU doesn't.
