Seems like a new trend of wine bottles with threaded caps instead of corks. I kinda like it, but sawing off thick metal foil sealed round the bottleneck, not so much. The contents very tasty, despite slightly scraped fingers. Bon apetit. 🍷😊

Screw-top wine bottles have been around since the 1950s. There's a theory they are able to keep wine fresh for longer as you can reseal the bottle easier.

You don't have to remove the collar from the neck. I don't think I ever did.

Yes, Jancis Robinson on her PBS wine show commented that corks are more about aesthetics than function. The screw tops are more convenient but seems like lately there’s been thicker metal to remove instead of thin foil. Bottoms up!
