Over coffee this morning my retired attorney wife explained to me just how F*cked DJT is going forward. I kinda knew most of this in a vague way, but hearing it all put together expertly was eye opening and I thought I might share. The E Jean case was much, much worse for him than it appears.

working multiple angles and "preserving grounds for appeal." This is essentially strategically objecting consistently to certain evidence or tactics used by the plantiff's attorneys to build the argument for an appeal. She waived that opportunity every time and objected to virtually nothing.

I didn't know this until my wife told me, but incompetent counsel isn't a thing either in civil trials. Only criminal. So he's on the hook for $88 mil and whatever she gets from the next penalty phase, which may get filed on Monday given TFG's defaming posts yesterday. That brings us to

judgement (5x what was asked) on a Friday afternoon so they could have dinner with their families. That's pure smoldering contempt when a jury does that. TFG is a toxic defendant going into the GA and DC criminal trials. No capable attorney or firm is going to go anywhere near this guy.

He's not indigent, (yet) so he won't have court appointed counsel. The only thing available is a publicity seeking idiot who doesn't have the L1 level understanding of law as in the E Jean case. These are serious cases with what essentially, for TFG, amount to life sentences at stake.

He's got no reasonable path forward and appears to be unaware how much he's digging his own grave here. This all makes him even more dangerous this year. We the voters are the last defense. Help in registration drives, write postcards, do all the things we can do to protect our nation.

Along these lines, I was struck by press coverage of Habba last night. She was credibly transcribed into the newscasts as she barked about how her attempts to violate the rules of evidence made the case appealable when the most casual legal scrutiny makes that a complete lie. It is deceiving.

Note, I never said "he's done." My whole premise was that his legal woes are cascading with no relief in sight and his only out is to basically become King. That part remains sobering for me and why I say we voters remain the last and possibly only defense.

Thanks for this. I can't comment from a legal perspective, but trump's method is always that image is everything, so he would rather have a pretty lawyer who praises him and obediently issues his truth-social-like statements than a serious lawyer who can muster a solid defense (& say no to him).

I would agree. He has long attempted to treat every legal problem as a PR / image problem. The limitations of that strategy seem to be coming to light more and more.

You closely mirror my sentiments. The teflon appears to be beginning to weaken, but we can't count on it. If we are in mid October and the pollsters say there's a 1% chance of TFG winning, my reaction is, "That's too much, what else can I be doing to drive it to 0%?"
