I just finished watching Killers of the Flower Moon, and I was stunned when I found out it was a true story. Wow....

"Today, more than a quarter of Osage mineral rights from the 1920s and 1930s remain in the hands of non-Osage members; federal laws make it nearly impossible for them to be returned to the Osage Nation. An OK representative has agreed to sponsor legislation

"that would make retrieving those oil rights easier. But the non-Native families and institutions that own those ill-begotten rights will need far more public pressure than the movie has so far generated before they come forward and return those oil royalties to their rightful owners."

There are two short documentaries on the Osage Murders depicted in the movie.

I haven't seen it yet. Maybe late this afternoon. True stories are the best.

Loved the book! Read it before watching the movie. Think I preferred the book. Yes, based on real events! Same timeframe as the Tulsa genocide! Paints a disturbing picture and should remind all of us just how little of American history we know! Here are some other books worth a read! #books

Also interesting is Sarah Rector. She was a Black girl in Oklahoma during those times. Her ancestors had been enslaved by the tribes in that area. Sarah became really rich from oil on land she inherited. Sarah's wealth had "benefits". She was considered officially, legally white in Oklahoma.

The Osage nation exist within the US. There is oil, oil money and a history of murder and displacement.
But this movie is not a documentary

Heartbreaking event. A very good movie. Dicaprio should've been nominated for an Oscar too.

I read the book and it broke my heart so badly that I couldn’t bear watching the movie. I saw the first part of it and had to stop. Tender hearted people beware. But the book is exquisite.

Did the book focus more on Molly and her family? I felt like the movie didn't tell enough of the story from her perspective.
