(Recreating a thread I screwed up 🤣)

A quick response to the breach and reaction. My bona fides: decades in tech, most recently nearly two years in a security startup.

1) This is not the first time your data has been breached.
2) This is probably not the worst breach, either.

3) @cbouzy & co responded well and quickly. Many companies try to cover up their breaches for months.

For perspective, as Troy Hunt suggests, go type your email into https://haveibeenpwned.com... and see what other breaches you've been involved in.

And fundamentally: use a different password for every single account you have. Ideally, use a service like 1password (which is what I use).

But as a friend says: for the majority of people, even keeping a list of unique passwords in a notebook by your desk is infinitely more secure than reusing a password even once.
