In 2016 I started drinking too much. I was angry at so many people. I was hurt. I was confused. But I was hurting myself. It took the forced break of 2020 for me to start to re-evaluate and find ways to be more curious than angry. Not to accept but to try to understand.

When you are angry, you still hope for a response from that person, some recognition of the hurt that will make you feel better.

I prefer contempt. It lets me move on while maintaining a clear moral view in my mind on that individual. The further we move apart in life, the more relief it is.

I can do that for some people that are not worth my time, energy, or attention. Even if people insist that person is a danger to us all, I don't focus on the person, just the actions I can take. For others, that I am closer to, I focus on the good and really hope some things are just a phase.
