Everywhere I heard that did this ended up with people claiming "their" spot anyway and some mutually assured destruction in "first come, first pick". #FYI corporate America, 2 programmers grappling over "their" chair isn't efficient

So I just learned about "hoteling" in offices where cubes aren't assigned to specific employees even though employees are required to come in X days per week. That just sounds fucking miserable.

I am so fucking glad I still work remotely.

Lot of places don[t even have cubes anymore. Just long tables where you sit with your laptop. Consultants and managers spew all kinds of bullshit about "collaboration." But not all jobs are collaborative! Truth is, walls and cubes are expensive and they don't want to pay.
