Thank you for your support, but we can't run a social media platform on donations. We made it clear from the beginning we would have ads, and waited an entire year before testing them.

I was disappointed to see them. I guess when I donate to a cause, I don’t expect to see ads.

I totally understand the need for ads, but I saw one that was basically porn and tried clicking on the AdChoices arrow that didn't provide the option to provide feedback. I am assuming that is a Google AdSense issue?

What's the time of having the investors badge show on profile 🤔

I was excited to see ads when they arrived. To me it was a signal that Spoutible was entering the bigger arena of social media apps.

It's ok. People just don't get it. Now she's echoing spouts that say you don't understand. That people would donate more to have no ads. That's La La Land. If that was true, Public broadcasting wouldn't' need to take money from corporate sponsors. That is ADVERTISING. It's just not possible.

Been pretty clear from the beginning that there will be ads.

The irony is that people would donate more if it meant keeping Spoutible ad free.

Sorry if you've already seen this in other spouts...

It appears there are plans to offer an ad-free membership tier for a small monthly fee (I think ~$4 based on info provided for investors via the WeFunder site).

I would pay for an ad-free experience. But I have to admit: the ads haven’t bothered me that much so far. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I thought ad revenue was always a goal for the site?

The business is the business. If it takes ad buy to sustain the business, then it is what it is. It costs to run these platforms.

I have seen 2 ads, for a bank. Not intrusive at all. I trust you. You are doing a great job 👏 . Ads pay the bills.

It's definitely difficult to grow a platform without revenue so the ads are understandable. Nothing is free in this world. Has there been any thought to offering a paid subscription to users for an ad free experience?

Yes. And several discussions about those plans. I'd be shocked if we don't hear more within a few weeks.

On Facebook I've actually purchased items via companies advertising there. Talking about well established ones like Lands End, Saucony, and a wonderful custom jewelry company. A few Ads here and there as long as they aren't obnoxious 🙂 are fine. Gotta pay the bills!

Although I've never bought an item from any social media site, I agree. As long as ads are not overwhelming, like on Facebook I'm ok with it.

I'm okay with a few ads! Honestly. I'm so used to them from every type of media. It almost seems odd not to see any. So long as the ads don't devolve into the kind of ads on Twitter for bras for old ladies and right-wing crap, I'm good! (And I know they won't, so not worried!)

Exactly, there's a difference to be made between normal ads and questionable/scam ads (crypto, etc.)
