If you've gotten away with saying condescending things to women, and then you try me, and you're like "what is this woman's DEAL," it's this:

No woman likes it. No woman enjoys it. No woman thinks it's funny, no woman has just "moved on."

This is the first safe place on the planet to say so.

About 6-7 years ago I yelled at a SVP of a major bank who was trying to explain risk in denying a new equity line. I yelled ‘Don’t fu#king mansplain me - I have a PhD in Economics. I know full well what risk is and we are the safest bet on the planet. He continued. I kept telling him he was wrong!’

I had a talk with a co-worker about talking over women in the Zoom chats (during fully remote covid time) . He even talked over VP. I flat-out told him to stop.

I also told him to stop saying "girl" and "girls". They weren't children.

Did he stop?

Did he apologize?

I think it's very important to acknowledge the behavior or it just keeps happening.

Oh that is SO. INCREDIBLY. ENRAGING.

I'm really sorry he did that to you.

And the truth is they enjoy it, they get a little thrill out of it. It's clear from the inevitable excuse that immediately follows but precedes an actual apology, if one every comes.

How aren't women more murderous??

Because we've been programmed from baby-hood to smile more and be quiet. "Boys will be boys" and other bullshit. I taught my daughter the exact opposite.
