King Charles has conferred the Duke of Edinburgh title left behind by Prince Philip to Prince Edward, who turns 59 today. Edward's son, Viscount Severn, will take on his father's Earl of Wessex title. The Buckingham Palace website's Line of Succession page has already been updated.

Love the scathing quotes from people of Edinburgh in this article from a Scottish news outlet about the granting of feudal trinkets to members of one family.

Plus the kicker (final 2 sentences) is :chef kiss emoji:

All that humiliation that Charles, via the British media, put towards Edward by saying he (Charles) would not honor his late father's wishes...smh....I guess someone is attempting to do some PR cleanup prior to May.

He gets two points for this cleanup and minus five points for saying the title isn't hereditary and gets snatched away the moment Edward passes.
