The "white standard," says that if enough white people think racism isn't a problem in this country, then it isn't a problem. That if enough white people think Black folks are angry, lazy, thugs, loud, uncivilized, uneducated, unworthy, then that's what Black folks are.
Keith Boykin @keithboykin
A new CBS News poll shows 75 percent of Black people think racism is a major problem in America today, while 58 percent of white people say racism is only a minor problem or not a problem at all.

That any behavior that doesn't align with the "white standard" of normalcy & civility isn't acceptable behavior (See Fani Willis, Angel Reese, Colin Kaepernick, Barack Obama, etc.).

Having grown up under this "white standard," being told 2 conform, 2 get along, not 2 rock the boat or step outside my place, I can tell you the oppressive weight of this psychological BS wore on my Spirit just as I witnessed it wear on others. That's why I marvel at US!

A slaver fears the uncontrolled minds of a liberated people. The eruption of white grievance in this country is a direct reaction 2 Black folks hailing OUR own standards along with all marginalized communities who refuse 2 be defined or dictated 2 by a one-size-fits-all, privileged "white standard".

Thank you

So liberating to allow myself to love the way my hair grows out of my scalp. And that only happened because I rejected white standards
And the self love that grew out of that is exponential. Unbeknownst to me I had buried myself away by following an identity society put on me.

So very very true.

The saddest part is not knowing we're doing it. But we're so grateful for people who first shared their truth leading us to this space
