I don't think people realize how many seniors go to a casino for company. They chat with other players at table games, at nearby slot machines, in the poker room. Men & women equally, though in different places. They'll play .25 or .50 a spin hoping to hit something, but mainly to see other humans.

One of my friends will take the bus from a far suburb just to have a free buffet with me and play $5 afterwards.

There is always a long line of seniors on the days they give away housewares. None of them needs another knife block. They need an outing. Getting the casino gift is an excuse.

Which casino is this? When I had to walk through the MGM Grand in Northfield, it was row after row after blank-faced people staring at the VGT screen. They looked desperate & zombie-like & certainly weren't socializing.

I play downtown where there are table games & a poker room. Much more interaction over here. Plus you have the sports book & people watching the games together.

Also you more or less have to drive to Northfield, but with the main Jack casino on Public Square lots of seniors take the bus or even paratransit.
