If anyone says that they want to "Federalize our cities," they are saying that they want to toss out our Constitution and replace it with authoritarianism.

Our country is based on the idea of a separation of powers.

Not just between the three branches, but also between the Federal (National) Government, State Governments, and Municipal (CityTown) Governments.

"Federalizing our cities" would involve the Federal government stepping in and taking control of the Municipal governments, bypassing the authority of the State Governments.

That goes against the framework defined in the US Constitution.
