I had someone offer me $30 to knit them a queen size blanket.

I just stared at them.

$30 wouldn't cover the cost for the yarn, much less the time it would take.

This is why my usual immediate answer when someone asks me to make something for them, is no.

Just because something is a hobby for most people, doesn't mean people shouldn't be fairly compensated for their work if they decide to sell a piece.

Quilters especially suffer the indignity of low-ball offers for their incredible talent and work.

How insulting!!! People are so used to Walmart crap that when something is handcrafted and made to last generations they're not willing to pay a fair price for it. I'd rather spend the money once. I'm so tired of people buying the "newest thing" every couple months and dumping all the old stuff.

Early in my knitting journey, I was approached to make a twin size blanket, with a Halloween theme.

The person didn't have any ideas beyond that. So I spent time creating a few designs and went back to them to discuss and get input.

They were offended when I charged for design time.

That's just crazy to me! People's time is worth money. Goodwill doesn't pay the bills
