Studies show women are at their highest risk of being victims of violence while they are pregnant. And most victimizers are partners. So forcing pregnant women to remain married to a man regardless of the quality of their relationship puts their lives at an even higher risk. This is abhorrent.

What if the person she's divorcing isn't the father of the baby?

I believe some states consider your husband to legally be the father if you are married. So, in those cases the fact that your husband isn't the father wouldn't matter until after birth and your husband requests a paternity test.

They say it's to make certain the child is cared for so why does it take so long in the courts to get support and care for the children already here? I know too many women now who are still waiting for the safety and security of themselves and their children. Mo courts need to work on that!

I could be lacking in foresight but how is swamping an already heavy court system with foolery like this helping women and children? SMDH
