Last night, I completed a game of shogi (Japanese chess) with a checkmate move: moving my promoted rook one square to the right to trap the opponent's king, with the help of my promoted bishop preventing escape one square down and with no way to block or capture my rook.

Man, this game is hard. 🙂

Is it harder than chess?

The way I see it, all chess games (regular or otherwise) are the same kind of game: moving pieces to trap the opponent's king. They differ mainly in how pieces move, plus a few unique rules. Potentially, all chess games can be challenging equally. 🙂
