Of all the plants I grow each year, I get the most excited and/or worried about the irises.

Mom’s grown irises for decades, and I have rhizomes from her oldest garden. In spring and early summer, there were hundreds of them blooming.

She grew mostly yellow, white, and purple varieties. People used to slow down when they drove by our house to look at them.

When she moved from that house, she couldn’t pull up every rhizome, but she did take about 5 dozen. I took another two dozen.

… new varieties to her garden, and I occasionally buy a couple new rhizomes, but I only have so much space for them. I usually just buy several for her, lol.

I love irises! My mom also grew them in her beautiful gardens when she had the space. They always make me feel hopeful.

I have yellows, purples, salmon, bi- and tri-color.

She has every color you can think of, including some GORGEOUS black and red-black ones.
