I had to deal with the decline and death of each of my parents along with health decisions and financial/estate decisions. My mom when I was younger and my kids were little and my father 13 years later. It is confusing, exhausting work on many levels. Nothing prepares you for it. Nothing.

I'm an only child with a young family.

I'm scared to death of how caring for my aging, out-of-state parents will go when old age takes its toll.

100%. I was my mom's executor. Even with EVERYTHING possible worked out in advance, it was more than a full year to handle every niggling financial thing. Like an endless game of carnival Whack-a-Mole.

I was so exhausted by it that I didn’t even start pulling out all of their stuff(photos, family heirlooms & treasures, etc) until just a couple years ago. Perhaps I’m just of weak constitution but I just needed that much of a break.
