Ladies! Did you know that in 1973 you wouldn't have been able to get a credit card or bank account without your husband's signature? And it would be years after the Equal Credit Opportunity Act passed in 1974 before many banks would abide by the new law.

My 1st new car in 1973 had to be in my father’s name even though I made all the payments on it.
My brother-in-law was instrumental in getting me my first credit card in 1973. I believe he either co-signed or I was an authorized user on his card.
I retired in 2021 making more money than he ever did.
