@SuzMcBrideBooks I want to tell you something about those days and I learned it from my late father (may he RIP), we used to live a one bedroom apartment in 1972 our neighbors knew everyone and our landlord would greet us when we picnic in our backyard! See we looked out for each other back then!

Here's another thing dad told me many years ago, across the street from our apartment was a Union 76 gas station. The station attendant knew us and called my dads name and everyone else in the neighborhood. He would thank us for stopping at the station. You just don't see that anymore.

No, you don't. Not often, anyway. My grandpa was like that. Everyone knew him in his neighborhood. I was always so proud when I went anywhere with him. Not only did he know all these people, but he took care of them. He made sure everybody was okay and helped them out if they weren't.

That's exactly what Mr. James Bales, our landlord did back when I was an infant, when my parents were gone for a short period of time, he took good care of me and my sister! He was in his 60's back in the early 70's and he was a great guy to my parents.
