When I was at the thrift store this weekend, I found an old book & picked it up in a hurry. It was only $2.50- I'm guessing because of the poor condition. The recipes written on the pages & the newspaper articles poked inside made me smile. #thriftedtreasures

What a treasure! I love old cookbooks, they have the best simple recipes. One of mine has recipes for Squirrel Pie and Roast Woodchuck, it's a depression era cookbook with recipes to really stretch the food budget. BTW, I have not tried those particular recipes.

Oh wow, I'm pretty adventurous with food, but I'm not so sure I'd be willing to try those! 😄

Same. The entire chapter dealt with supplementing the meat budget through hunting. FYI, you need 2 squirrels for a pie. I have a few cookbooks over a hundred years old, they do make for some very interesting reading. I've tried some of the recipes in my more recent ones, some are real keepers.
