people forget that mental health is health. if someone would rather see me miserable from trying to lose weight, they do not care about my health; they care about exerting their own power/influence over me because they perceive themself as morally superior.

There's an ignorant misconception that a lot of people (including medical people) thar being big is unhealthy. It can be, but not as unhealthy as being really skinny.

100%. I've lost 90-some pounds on Atkins twice; gained it back +10. Lost 70 lbs on keto: gained it back +20. I have stable blood pressure & glucose & can get around ok 85% of days. If I spend my declining years looking like Gertrude Stein, so be it. Weight is better on old bones than skinny.

Some extra weight does protect your bones a bit. When I was carrying a few extra pounds, I fell and just got bruised, while my thinner friend fell and broke a bone.
