On the one hand, I don’t really think donating something like a rare life threatening tumor to be studied for the good of humanity ought to be optional, but given that, any monetization should definitely compensate the subject or their estate fairly.

This situation was unique in that Henrietta didn’t owe anything for her treatment but that’s not the norm. Most patients are at least paying for insurance to cover their care. That’d make it even worse for others to profit off of a surgery the patient paid for, I mean WTF?
