#Steel #DailyPictureTheme
Woman’s Head by artist Dennis Patton, is composed of rusting #Steel ; it is 15 ft tall. It sits on the corner of a busy intersection in Ames, Iowa. Some find it tacky, others merely interesting, yet others a symbol of determination. Photo by Jonathan Kolasch.

I love steel art like the one you've shared. I took this picture in Ames last fall. I thought it was so cool as the elk is made from barbed wire. The Tedesco walking trail system was a great place to stop as I traveled home.

I always understand if people aren’t moved by a piece of art, but how can they think “tacky”?

I can only guess. Perhaps it is an overreaction to viewing it as grotesque. One comment I read: “The ugliest statue I've ever seen in my life.” (Some people.) I see determination or an exertion against an opposing force.
