Is there a word you learned from a book that you mispronounced for a long time? Mine was "epitome" - an art professor corrected me in college. I had no idea up until then.

Frangipani... and it was a very public mistake, too. I was so embarrassed that I've blocked out the correct way to say it. I usually just go with "Plumeria" or "pretty Hawaiian flower" now.

You shouldn't be embarrassed, it's not an everyday word! :)
The people who SHOULD be embarrassed are in the town where my SIL used to live, who would order "FA-jih-tas" at the Mexican restaurant. 😁
