Does anyone else wonder whether or not our country has become so poisoned by Trumpism that it may never recover? Can we actually vote out this venom?

frequently. i'm not sure. current gen gives me hope, but if traitors are successful, that gen will have to work against new, authoritarian institutions, an "emergency" constitutional suspension, & risk their lives & freedom as they do in russia, iran, n korea, etc.

Yes, we have a very short window to reverse this in our lifetime. May the traitors fail before more tragedy befalls us.

I think Didi's right; it'll take a generation or two to get past the spasms of outraged hate as white people join Christians as a minority in America. Meanwhile we fight in hopes that in a generation or two there'll still be an America.

It's sad to think some of us will not live to see our Democracy recover.

I don’t know that Trumpism poisoned us or the darkness was brought to light.

Exactly my thoughts. I cried when President Obama was elected thinking that we were finally making progress with our racism problem/history. I think his Presidency drove some people nuts. Then 44.5 gave them all permission to come into the light.
We must be a United front to quell the hate/racism💙

Yes, the darkness was always there, but it was not a prevailing force. After all the gains in human and civil rights of the last several decades, now we are faced with reactionaries solidifying this hatred, backwardness, and ignorance with toxic legislation.

I do wonder that, and I am sad for future generations. BUT...I am not raising the white flag, our democracy is worth fighting for.

Yes, we must continue to fight. I am not giving up, but I am frightened that we may be fighting against overwhelming odds. I hope I am wrong.
