Apropos of nothing, I rediscovered this old photo in my files. I think it's likely an early 20th century view of Niagara Falls (i.e., 1910/20?).

It's SO different than the same view you'd capture today! How sparse everything is, including the stairway/viewing area where the people on the right are standing. Today, the bridge is giant and crowded with traffic, and the viewing area has fortified stairs, raincoats provided, etc.

I love the cleanliness and the space. I've never been there. Finding the balance between nature and humanity is tricky.

IKR? I like the *idea* of 'people'...but I seem to do a lot of avoiding them these days (a little by circumstance, a little by choice).
Getting out into nature-abundant spaces does lovely things for my soul; highly recommend whenever the weather isn't terrible (and sometimes when it IS)!

I've lived and worked in some remote parts of the world, so I get the people interactive reluctance. I'm with you there.

Sounds as if you chose the right field for your blends of interests/aversions. Well done!

Right now I'm in the center of my community and I want to do more outreach. Career change #3 .

Sounds like a wonderful pivot. Good for you!
I retired a year ago...and immediately took up caretaking for my mother. So I guess that's my current "career". 😉

Wow, what a unappreciated change for you. My sisters and father are currently in that caretaker role. I'm so appreciative of your time and decision.

Thank you. But I'm fortunate because my mom *does* appreciate it. My siblings lived with her until she could no longer do stairs (I have a one-floor home), so we've all been sharing the load. My husband also helps, and family members visit each week (to help out and give her other faces to see).

Family unity is so sporadic. I'm am happy for you, and your parent are supported.

Well, all families have their issues but at least in this area, we're working well together. I'll think of your family as I'm caring for mine; knowing that many of us are going through similar struggles can be helpful.
