Just found a 1909 Thanksgiving meat carving set in storage. Was that a thing back then? To commemorate Thanksgiving with engraved silver carving sets complete with initials and the date? No one recognises the initials so I have a mystery in-law relative.

It was probably a wedding gift. Carving sets would be useful year-round.

It says Thanksgiving 1909 and then her initials on every piece. Don't think it's a wedding gift. That would probably be two sets of initials and the full date of wedding, I would think.

Huh! I'm intrigued.

Was it someone's 25th anniversary on 11/25/1909?

Could it be an anniversary gift? Thanksgiving doesn't fall on the same date annually and might have felt significant to the gifter. I'm stumped, tho.
