JFC. Yet another headline arguing *this* is the last straw on abortion for the GOP, as if all the other no-exception bans passed since Dobbs meant nothing... These white male journalists refuse to see what an enormous burden restricting access in half the country is & the backlash it's caused.

This is just a bad headline. It should read:

“GOP denial of reality and stupidity are a distinct danger for GOP”

Gosh, what would happen if everyone Trump and the GOP hate, deny rights to, demean, and threaten were to, oh, I don't know.... VOTE? Landfreakingslide.

And even better still, I wish those they don't hate & demean (white, cishet, able-bodied guys) realized how horrible he was and voted for the greater good, not just their own privilege.

It’s more of a danger to women which is why AZ Republicans blocked a bill to repeal the law.

Until it affects them personally, it's all theoretical to them.

Selfishness is the fuel that runs the patriarchy, greed is what funds it.

"The past week is the moment the GOP caught the car on abortion rights"

No. They caught it when the Dobbs decision was handed down. They just keep smashing their heads into the bumper every time these laws are passed or upheld. There is no middle ground for them to find (e.g. 15 wk ban))

It's crazy how casually the media treats this, just as they're ho-hum about Trump running again. And to see NPR apologizing to right-wing donors for being "biased," when they actually mean "for trying to report truth." It's surreal and tragic and frightening at the same time. The media is broken.

So broken. When people rightly rail against corporate news we'd like to think nonprofits like NPR are different, yet they too are pervaded with rampant "bothsidesism"...and are backed by Koch and other big corporate and often conservative donors.

It's not the last straw. Here's why:

The first messaging from media on the Arizona SC decision was the political impact.

The first messaging should have been was the details of the decision from a woman's perspective.

As long as they tie this to elections it will have a short news cycle.

I'm so flaming sick of this issue being treated like just another political lever to gain power. So. Fucking. Sickofit. It should have never become a political issue in the first place, 60 years ago.

To be fair to them (not that they deserve any of such), they are at least acknowledging that Dobbs is proving to be anything but a winner here. In a state where there's a rising Dem tide, that's turnout gold the AZ Supreme Court just handed our side.

Definitely, but they're very slow to realize it and every time something like this happens and it motivates Dems they act surprised.
