This photo became sear-ed in my brain for many reasons and still have a visceral response, probably because I was about the same age as Mary Ann Vecchio who was 14-years-old when she witnessed this horror.

This kept jumping into my brain today, too. I can't believe we're going through this nightmare again.

My dear friend Sandra Perlman had just moved to campus when her husband Henry Halem joined the art faculty. The massacre changed her forever & at least 3 of her plays are about it one way or another including NIGHTWALKING, based on oral histories.

Thanks for sharing this Linda. Even as young as I was, it really changed my perspective on our world.

Neil Young starts singing automatically every time I see this picture.

And we thought the worst we had to worry about was Nixon....😟

As a young one, this event changed my perspective on a lot of things and shaped my views on even my current political leanings.

I was in college in Pennsylvania, not that far away and it was a huge shock. But I kept on joining the marches

I have the same reaction seeing this picture.
I was 18 years old and remember it like it was yesterday.
Jeffrey Miller, the unarmed student shown in the picture at Kent State, was from my then hometown.
A tragedy occurred on that day. 💔

I was in high school at the time and remember this well.

Joe Lewis, a good friend of my older brother and I, was wounded that day at Kent State.
