Though the point of origin was ABC handing network news operations to the entertainment division. undermining the concept of news, you are correct about the accelerated perversion of journalistic standards attending the Simpson trial & circus.

It also brought us the Kardashians. All of them. #🤦

I read a similar take sometime last year (forget where/by whom) that it indeed led to Murdoch going ahead with Faux News after realizing ppl would indeed sit & watch all day if something was titillating & provoking.
