The right will say, 'see, they were only giving those scholarships for being black.' When in reality, it was a merit-based program to increase blk enrollment based on the past.

Still, Duke did not have to do this. It's not like the past has been cleared up and we're all equal now.

They want athletes. These "relationships" are always transactional. The athletes bring in the money which is why they don't care if they lose the scholars.

Sounds to me like they don’t want to gut their endowment fighting “reverse discrimination” lawsuits from the right.
