I'm sure some bank tellers are fine people, but banks in general are scum. Yesterday I deposited a check my wife wrote from her old account so we could e-file our taxes, and today I learned it's subject to an 11-day hold. I'd be fine with 3 days but 11? How are we supposed to pay April 15?

We also use a Credit Union. They are sometimes not as sophisticated as regular banks; longer wait times, less tellers, slower about things in general, etc; but they don't nickle and dime you to death with fees.

Yeah, this is a check from one credit union going into another. We're fortunate that we have enough in a retirement account to do an e-transfer, but 11 days ("9 business days," the guy protested) is indeed ridiculous.
