Capitalism seems destined to erode the livability of human societies. As a system, it's utterly incapable of committing to long-term thinking and planning. We can't make decisions without first guaranteeing they'll turn a profit, and that bodes I'll for a future shaped by climate change.

I mean it was built on slavery & manifest destiny bullshit. It is inherently built on suffering & exploitative profits. So it is "working" as intended. In America anyway. I wish we had a genuine free market & something akin to democratic socialism. But socialism is a dirty word here.

Honestly, I think democratic socialism in the context of a market-driven economy seems the only reasonable path forward.

Not the way it's supposed to be, but as much else, when it was viewed through a lens of burgeoning greed over it's intentions, it was well and truly perverted into what we have now.

And this is the downfall.

It could work so much better! We could move from shareholder capitalism to stakeholder capitalism as a way of injecting long-term thinking, centred around the holistic health of human societies, into a market framework. In fact, we'll *have* to do this to survive, I just hope we'll do it in time.
