Does anyone on here have any personal experience with the prescription Paxil?
My doctor just prescribed it for my hot flashes and it doesn’t look like something I want…
My husband is freaking out because his ex-wife was bipolar and that’s what they gave her.
Any thoughts?

Antidepressants are prescribed during menopause for hot flashes, not mood changes. That being said, sometimes drs overprescribed them because women be crazy 🙄 and modern medicine has very few treatments for menopause. Consider seeing a menopause specialist if you haven't already.

My only complaint was severe hot flashes that are worse than when they started in 2009 and vaginal dryness. She is sending me to an OB/GYN for vaginal dryness.

Be sure to ask about HRT, and if they dismiss that out of hand, find a new doctor. Not that you should def take HRT, but you should have a doctor who is willing to discuss it. Good luck, and if the docs don't help enough, please find an herbalist. There are plants that can help. ❤️

That’s how the whole thing started. I asked for hormone replacement therapy for several different reasons. She said I am too old. They will only prescribe for people in their 50s
