We have a bunch of reusable produce bags and go for metal or glass packing when possible, but plastic is HARD to avoid, especially with toiletries

We've made a huge effort to limit buying items in plastic and eliminate (almost!) using plastic bags in the last 4 years. Mesh bags for groceries and produce, buying refillable soap products (not in plastic), laundry dishwasher pods shipped in cardboard boxes, products wrapped in paper, not plastic.

We estimate that we have only eliminated ~100-130 bottles of plastic/year. Some products are more expensive, some the same. We're happy that we are buying and using less plastic, but it seems like such a huge effort for a small gain.

Would love more refill bars for shampoos, soaps - we have one here but the hours are regular 9-5 so hard to get to - then you can at least reuse your containers.

We use Shopper bags from Blue Q. Made with 95% recyclable products. They hold a lot and we always get compliments from the checkout folks

Have mesh bags for produce and baked goods. but it is basically impossible to avoid plastics, especially anything that's remotely recyclable. Problem with plastics is they're not generally recycled. If there's no recycler, it won't be recycled, no matter how its stamped.
