Good morning. Well, with the car dead and the house nearing collapse, I have been preparing for life being homeless and living on the streets. And with no homeless shelter here in East Alabama, there's a good chance I'll probably pass away. It's extreme, but its life with Autism.

Nathan, sharing your story and experience is incredibly brave and a wonderful way to acknowledge autism awareness month. Lots of fellow spouters made great suggestions for people and places that might be able to help you get safer housing and help with transportation. We’re here for you!

How do I get emergency housing assistance in Alabama? To apply for either type of help, visit your local Public Housing Agency (PHA). Some PHAs have long waiting lists, so you may want to apply at more than one PHA. Your PHA can also give you a list of locations at which your voucher can be used.
