I don't drink so the only #liquor in my house is this Everclear I use for dye extraction.

Happy Tuesday!

Let's be bad today. Today's #SpoutibleScavengerHunt is #liquor .

Here's mine. Yes I need to dust. Perhaps I will need to find that pool noodle as again. 😂

Ever clear is very useful but expensive. I've only used it to extract plant oils for tinctures.

Yeah I think I paid close to $80 for 3.5 L of it, although part of that was delivery fees because I was too lazy to get off my ass and go to the liquor store. I'm planning to see if isopropanol, acetone, or denatured alcohol will work instead. Those are cheaper.

I ended up with a large bottle during lockdown when we couldn’t get isopropyl alcohol.

I used most of the Everclear I have and decided to try with isopropanol in the future because a gallon of isopropanol is a lot less expensive than 3.5 L of Everclear. I didn't start this hobby until after lockdown was basically over though.

Do you boil in the everclear or do you add some to the water?

Depends on the dye, for the alkanet (pictured) I just soak it at room temperature, then later add water to get to a volume suitable for the fiber I want to put in there.
