We were not forced to eat anything we didn’t want. I love Cream of Wheat but grits are gross. I learned to like a lot of foods other people don’t because I was willing to try things.

In my parent's house, we were forced to eat whatever was placed in front of us. Many a food item was eaten cold, lumpy, & drenched in tears, 2hrs after it was served. To this day, I cannot abide Cream of Wheat, nor Farina... or Other things. 🫤

I love grits. My mother wasn't a good cook. Her best dish was Turkey, Stuffing, & Sweet Potato Pudding, so Thanksgiving was lit. Otherwise, her food was overcooked & bland. I didn't know how a Lot of dishes were Supposed to taste, until I started dining out at restaurants.

My mom ruined rice for me even to this day. She would cook it normally and then when you're supposed to turn it off, when it's absorbed all the liquid and is fluffy, she would add another cup of water and make it into a massive sticky glue ball. She had no idea why none of us ever liked rice.
