#Spoutories #reconsider

As a teen in the mid-60's, I assumed I should be against abortion. I had to reconsider when I learned that Grandma Stella had them in order to space her 3 children between 1914-1926, when birth control was women breast-feeding to decrease fertility. Shocked into reality.

We learned just before she died (at age 95) that my grandmother had an abortion. Her husband was unreliable, more concerned with traveling to support Russian & the labor movement than with family & she supported my mom as a school teacher when women lost their jobs for being pregnant.

If we listened to women's stories, we'd discover how common abortion has been for thousands of years. Are you going to the CPT play "Funny Like an Abortion"? I plan to see it next week.
