I had a reaction to iodine contrast dye during a CT-scan: heart rate increased, arms went numb, abdominal spasms. Technician's reaction: take deep breaths I need to finish the scan. Nurse's reaction: talked about husband's panic attacks. It was not a panic attack.

Women are not taken seriously.

We often are not. I had a reaction to the dye also, they only listened to me after they verified in my record that I was allergic to shellfish. They tried to dismiss my trouble breathing initially by claiming reactions should be minimal & I just needed to calm down. Sorry you dealt with that too.

The whole calm down is infuriating. Any time a woman's heart rate goes up it's a panic attack. Even more infuriating.

Interesting... did not know it was connected to a shellfish allergy.
Many years later, after bingeing on shrimp, I developed a fast-growing tumor. One doc said allergy, but no one took her seriously; 2 gynecologic-oncologists diagnosed probable Stage3 uterine cancer. Tumor was benign.
