Springtime is an emotional blowtorch to my psyche. The fog of depression suffocates my brain, even as everyone else happily celebrates winter's end. This year's springtime crop of sadness is especially hearty. I feel so awful that I'm actually looking forward to summer's punishing heat as relief.

I'm so sorry, Jarret. Is there something special about springtime that triggers it?

Part of it is related to a lifetime of body-image issues. When I was a fat kid, spring meant having to shed form-covering clothing, and that caused me huge anxiety. Beyond that, I also adore fall and winter. But my therapist thinks there may be something else, too, which we haven't identified yet.

Thank you for being so open - I didn't mean to intrude, just curious. I can understand the body image issue, my son had the same problem for a long time. Whatever you might be about to find out, I wish you strength. ❤️🤗

Thank you for asking, Sabine. I hope your spring is going better. What helped your son overcomes those issues, if I may ask?

Therapy... and at some point he decided to lose weight, start running, working out. Then, outing himself, taking on every challenge, and finally loving himself.
